Antonio Rey – Grammy for “Historias de un flamenco”.
Antonio Rey, guitarist born in Madrid and raised in Jerez de la Frontera, has been awarded his second Latin Grammy for Best Flamenco Album for his work “Historias de un flamenco”. The ceremony was held in Florida, where Rey expressed his joy at “being able to live this dream,” recalling that the first time he won was during the pandemic and he was unable to fully enjoy the experience. He dedicated the award to his wife and two children.
This recognition reaffirms Antonio Rey as one of the most outstanding guitarists of his generation, combining tradition and innovation without losing the essence of flamenco. His previous Latin Grammy was obtained in 2020 for the album “Flamenco sin fronteras”.
The mayoress of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, congratulated the artist, stressing that this award is a source of pride for the city and underlining his contribution to flamenco and Jerez culture.
In addition to Antonio Rey, other Spanish artists received awards at this year’s Latin Grammy Awards, such as Niña Pastori, who won her sixth Grammy in the category of Best Folk Album.
